Carmel Valley Ranch

The iconic Carmel Valley Ranch brand, relaunched in 2012, is synonymous with family travel. In 2019, the property sought to build on that existing goodwill by introducing reimagined experiences, enhancements, and offerings for a broader audience—not just families, but those celebrating weddings, hosting meetings, gathering for milestones and reunions, or simply seeking romance. However, various changes to in-house marketing staff over the years had resulted in a diluted brand voice and image.

Brown Marketing & Communications was brought on to help rediscover The Ranch’s original voice while launching the expanded offerings. The project began with an audit of all materials, campaigns, and sales and marketing assets. Resort-wide photos and videos were shot to capture the brand story in a playful, emotive way. Finally, the refined positioning was integrated into all touchpoints, including the website, social media, digital advertising collateral, sales presentations and brochures, and more. Today, audiences of all sorts flock to The Ranch to play, and we continue to work with the property on everyday marketing needs.

Ventana Big Sur

Ventana Big Sur used a months-long closure forced by a 2017 mudslide to transform its 25-year-old resort. After performing extensive renovations, Ventana engaged Brown Marketing & Communications to help rebrand and relaunch the property as an ultra-luxury experience for a new, vibrant audience. We managed the development of an updated brand, voice, and story, each reflecting the rich history of the resort and region while pointing toward a bold new future.

Strategy and execution in all areas of marketing were included in this project—we created a go-to-market plan with a multifaceted approach, featuring social influencer campaigns, social and digital advertising, brand partnership programs, CRM, email retention and acquisition strategy, and much more. We designed positioning and sales messaging, oversaw the creation of a new website, updated collateral and OSE, managed social media efforts, and conducted resort-wide photo and video shoots, among other initiatives. The launch was a rousing success, and Ventana has been an ongoing client of Brown Marketing & Communications ever since.
